Iridescent Insects (Metallic Gold Foil 3d Art) Decor Art
Colourful (and not very creepy) crawlies!
Don't you love the super-shiny dor beetles, rose chafers, tiger beetles, etc, you sometimes see? It's a shame my other favourite UK critters, like stag beetles, are boring camouflaged brown shades.
So...
I mould assorted insects out of paper clay which takes a couple of days to dry.
Then I use stay-sticky liquid glues to make a shape on a canvas board, and gild that with patterned or plain metal foils when it dries.
The bugs are glued on top of this and painted with many layers of acrylic washes, before being foiled to match or contrast with the backgrounds.
A few more layers of acrylic highlights and shadows, and then I coat any white canvas with multiple layers of gesso to smarten it up.
I'll show you what is in stock, or custom order from me.
Choose:
UK Stag Beetles (pinchy horn tips)
Straighter horn Stag Beetles

Other animals/ fish/ etc planned in this style... watch this space or ask & suggest!
Please note the bug stays the same size, it is the backing board that gets larger.
